On October 16, 2022, the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Liang Meirong, a 52-year-old native of Zhuhai, Guangdong, attended as a delegate.

Two years ago, Liang Meirong was awarded the honorary title of National Model Worker. From model worker to delegate of CPC members, Liang Meirong became more paniked, worrying that “her limited culture will let down the expectation of the folks”, and at the same time, she felt “a great sense of responsibility”.

Liang Meirong was born in Baijiao Town of Zhuhai that is the largest sea bass breeding and processing area in China, and was awarded the title of “Hometown of China Sea Bass” in 2011.

According to media reports, more than 70% of the villagers in Zhaoxin Village are engaged in sea bass and related work, and over 70% of the village’s cultivated land is used for sea bass farming.
